The Sisu Rally
A real-world learning journey that parents and children undertake together. The point is not speed. It is learning how to move forward as a family when the route is not entirely certain.
Rally does not mean racing
Here, a rally is not a competition to finish first. It is a journey with direction but without every step being solved in advance. Families read the environment, understand a mission, make choices and adjust together.
The finish is not the only point. How the route is completed, who takes responsibility and how the team responds when conditions change are where the learning becomes visible.

A route turns abstract capacities into real questions
A route brings sequence, distance and uncertainty. A mission provides purpose. Limited time and resources require choices. Other people make responsibility real. Together, these elements move courage, cooperation and judgement out of the realm of slogans.
A family may need to redistribute roles, correct an assumption, name tiredness or decide when to ask for help. The purpose is not to dramatise difficulty; it is to make the next decision meaningful.

After the experience comes the looking back
Completing an activity does not automatically complete the learning. Families need time to make sense of what occurred: when did the situation become hard, what did we notice, who made which decision, and what might we do differently next time?
Reflection is not a demand for the correct answer. It helps each person name their own experience and consider what may travel home, to school and into the next difficult moment.
What the journey is designed to reveal
Five intentions guide the design of The Sisu Rally. They describe opportunities the journey seeks to create, not outcomes guaranteed to every participant.
- Courage: meeting the unfamiliar within a considered boundary
- Agency: discovering that observation and choice are possible
- Responsibility: seeing that decisions have consequences
- Resilience: reorganising and acting after difficulty
- Connection: experiencing, sharing roles and reflecting as a family

Dates, price, route, accommodation, transport, age guidance, leaders and operating arrangements will be published only after they are verified. Until then, details will be described as forthcoming or discussed honestly in a suitability conversation.
